December 20, 2011Sibelius 7.1 Kontakt 5 Update
Kontakt 5 Autoloading
With the release of Sibelius 7.1 on Monday, autoloading functionality has been restored for Kontakt 5. The Kontakt 5 and Retro Machines MK2 sound set packages and documentation have been updated as well, and now include full support for automatic loading in Sibelius 7.1 and higher.
This is a free update for all current users of the Kontakt 5 and/or Retro Machines MK2 sound sets. Users will receive more information by email within 24 hours.
As a reminder for those of you who have held off to see if autoloading would be back for Kontakt 5, the Retro Machines MK2 sound set is currently free with purchase of the Kontakt 5 sound set. This offer will end January 1, 2012 so head over to the Native Instruments page and save a few $$! If you're using the Kontakt 4 sound set, don't forget to check your eligibility for reduced upgrade pricing.
Order and Support Delays
Over the past several weeks orders and support requests have been severely delayed. If you've written in and not yet received a response, please know that you are not being ignored and responses are being sent as quickly as possible.
Orders are currently taking up to 36 hours to process, and should be back on track in the next several days. Thanks for your patience.
Website Availability
The Sound Set Project website will be offline for an as of yet undetermined period of time beginning no sooner than December 30. While it's hoped to keep downtime to a minimum, it's not possible to say with any certainty how long it will be. During this time the entire site, including sound set downloads, will be unavailable. Users are encouraged to download a fresh copy of their sound sets as a precaution in case something goes wrong in their setup while the site is down.

UPDATES
Kurzweil
A sound set including the Orchestral ROM bank has been added to the Kurzweil PC2 sound set package. This is a free update for Kurzweil PC2 sound set users. Users will receive more information by email within 24 hours.
Roland
An error has been discovered in some of the Roland Juno-G and Roland Juno-DI sound set packages that resulted in users receiving incorrect files in their download. All of the packages have now been fixed and users will receive further instructions by email within 24 hours.

LA Scoring Strings v2.0
The LA Scoring Strings v2.0 sound set is a major update featuring entirely new programming and extended functionality. A number of issues with the v1.0 sound set have been resolved including:
- Repeated same-pitch notes under slur hang/cut short
- Accent marks in cellos force 'slam' patch
- Basses B divisi staff instrument assignment
- Volume jumps first time L/P/G patch plays

NEWS
EWQL "Hollywood" Series
I am very happy to finally be able to say on-the-record that sound sets for EastWest/Quantum Leap's Hollywood Strings and Hollywood Brass are in development and expected to be released in Q4 2011. System requirements and pricing information are TBD.
EWQLSO [Kontakt] Sound Sets
Due to an overwhelming response, having clearly mistaken the number of remaining users, the EWQLSO [Kontakt] sound sets will be re-released. These sound sets will be in entirely new form based on the success of the PLAY edition sound sets. The re-release is not without concern, however, and in order to limit availability as much as possible to legitimate users it will require some sort of application, including verification of authorization, before orders will be accepted. Details of what this process will look like are not entirely known at this point, but I will try to make it as painless as possible. Release is expected in late 2011 - early 2012.
Sonivox Symphonic Collection
Sound sets for the Sonivox Symphonic Collection libraries are progressing fast and are currently being tested. The sound sets for the five libraries that comprise this collection (Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, Strings, Harp) will be available individually and in a reduced-price bundle for users of all five titles; the bundle will also include combined sound sets and House Styles for convenience as well as the individual library files to make mixing libraries an easier task. Release is expected in Q4 2011.
Miscellaneous Other
Work continues on a significant update for the Vir2 VI.ONE sound set and several other sound sets are in varying stages of development. Efforts through the end of the 2011 into 2012 will be focused on adding new developers to the sound set list and expanding the range of resources available from the SSP. It's a bit too early for specifics but I'm confident the results will have something to offer users of all levels. As always, if you have anything specific you would like to see, libraries that need integrated, or have any other questions or suggestions please don't hesitate to let me know!
